HOW TO {TURN THAT BAD DAY INTO A GOOD ONE}

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Have a bad day yesterday and are afraid you’re gonna have a repeat? Or is the weather just too crummy and dragging you down?… Well, turn up those frowns and make your day into a good one, no more sulking about! Here’s my tips on how to have a good day when you need a little pick me up. Hopefully you’ll find something to help you out on your next bad day!

1. {GET OUT OF BED} Simple, yet hard to do when your just not in the mood! I like to force myself out of bed, pop my Ipod on shuffle (really really loudly) and take a nice long shower (just remember to save some water for the whales;)) to wake myself up. Here’s my favorite song at current moment….It usually leads to a little dancing;) Use this link for the music video.

2. {BE BRIGHT} Put on something bright! Maybe a colorful shirt, bright jewelry, or some fun shoes! Bright colors can trick your brain into being in a good mood! I just got this awesome tee at Forever 21, it would be perfect with some jeans/shorts and sneakers and maybe even a statement necklace, and only $8!

3.{EAT A GOOD BREAKFAST} Starting off the day making healthy choices makes you feel good and leads to making healthy decisions for the rest of the day! I love to start my day with a smoothie! I have a little blender by Cuisinart (similar to the Magic Bullet) that allows you to make just one serving at a time and then your smoothie is already in a cup so you just need to pop in a straw and you’re good to go. Here’s how I make mine, but you can find tons of recipes on Pinterest.

Banana

Frozen Berries

Almond Milk

Chia Seeds

Spinach

(sometimes greek yogurt)

4. {GET INSPIRED} Dive into some of your favorite scriptures or inspirational quotes for a little mental pick me. Take it one step further and get crafty by making a cute little sign to hang up near your mirror so you see it every morning while you’re getting ready!

5. {PAMPER YOURSELF} Have an at home beauty day to make your self relaxed and refreshed! I like to throw on a face mask and paint my nails. Here’s a fun at home face masks to try:

And my favorite nail polish (Julie G) made by one of my favorite Youtubers. You can find it at Riteaid.

6. {TREAT YOURSELF} Get your self a small treat! My favorite thing is to grab some magazines or a new book and a candle! It’s always nice to come home and unwind with a good magazine/book and a lit candle!

I’m loving this book and candle at the current moment. The book can be purchased at most book stores and the candle at Anthropologie or Francesca’s Collectibles (which is where I got both of these actually)

7. {EXERCISE} As miserable as it sounds when you’re in a crappy mood, a workout can be the beast way to boost your mood.

8. {GRAB A BUDDY} My last tip is to try to make some fun plans with a friend or significant other, someone who always lifts you up! This always help distract you from your crappy day. Go wine/beer/cider tasting, check out a new restaurant, browse your local consignment shops!

DON’T ….

SULK ALL DAY

EAT A WHOLE TUB OF ICE CREAM

LAY ON THE COUCH AND WATCH SAPPY MOVIES

HAHAHAHAHA

Alright peeps! Hopefully you won’t have a bad day but if you do I hope this helps to brighten it up!

Stay tuned for my top drugstore beauty products.

{Spring/Summer 2014 HairStyling Trends}

Here are some of the top hairstyling trends for Spring/Summer 2014.

We’ve seen the color trends now let’s look at the styles, a lot of which are low maintenance and easy to do.

The first trend is the {EDGY BOB}. It’s all about adding some messy layers into your bob and using some texturizing spray. They key is not to be too polished. You can go with a classic bob or a dramatic angled bob.

ImageImageImage

The next big trend is one that celebs are all about right now, the {EDGY PIXIE}. This is a bold, but a fun and easy one to style. We’ve seen lots of celebs going short and taking on this style such as Jennifer Lawrence and Pamela Anderson. To get this look Just add some texturizing spray to your wet hair and use your fingers to shape it as you blow dry. Then you can easily finish off the style with some finishing paste!

The next trend is one I will be doing a lot of! It’s the {SPORTY PONY}. An easy to accomplish sleek pony tail. I mean c’mon it’s the ultimate lazy day look, and you can easily add a headband to tie it into your outfit which actually ties in the next trend of {HAIR ACCESSORIES}.

Ohk here’s another easy to style which I’m also loving and will probably be trying out as well. The {EXTREME SIDE PART}. It’s pretty self explanatory.

ImageImage

The last trend and yet another easy one. WOOHOO! Actually I’m combining two because they are fairly similar. One is soft {SLEPT ON WAVES} and the other is {MERMAID WAVES}. Curl your hair over night using big sections and a curling wand, then in the morning add some texturizing spray and you’re good to go! For the mermaid waves you are also going to use a curling wand to achieve the look, just using smaller sections and make it a little more polished by brushing it all together and finishing off with a shine spray.

Making a “kissy face” is extremely important when trying to accomplish this look;)ImageImage

Well there you go! Now go get trendy! Stay tuned for how to get the perfect shaved legs for swimsuit season!

Winter Treats {for your face, body, & hair}

Yup it’s a cold one out there alright, and it’s sucking all the moisture out of me!

Here are some of my favorite products I want to share to help hydrate all over in these dry winter months!

{HAIR}

I’m a big fan of hair masks/deep conditioners for the winter time and I’ve discovered some new and not so new products that have been great in helping keep my hair soft, shiny, and NOT dry!!!

The first product is a hair mask by Joico, it’s not something I would have ever picked on my own, but it was highly recommended so I gave it a shot. I LOVED IT! It made my hair feel great, it’s been a while since I had found a mask that I was happy with! The great thing is its a quick and easy treatment that you can do at home!

The second product Is a hair oil. I know there a lot of people who are faithful users of the moroccan oil, I was too, but this product was a game changer for me. It’s the Healing Oil by Nick Arrojo. What’s great about this oil is that it comes in a can and sprays out in a fine mist as opposed to pouring some out on to your hand and combing it through your hair. I love to spray a light mist before I flat iron or curl my hair to help protect it from the heat. It gives the most amazing shine to the hair, the best shine I’ve seen from a product so far!

The last hair product I want to share is one I know I’ve talked about previously so I will keep it short! It’s the It’s A 10 Miracle Leave in Potion. Its a cream that you put in your hair before you blow dry and it sort of infuses all these great things into your hair and makes it feel UH-MA-ZING!!! Sometimes you don’t even have to do any other styling after you blow dry it because the product makes your hair so smooth and silky! Plus it’s a potion so you kind of feel magical using it;)

{FACE}

This is my favorite category for the winter time because my skin gets soooooooooo dry and I’ve always struggled to find products that keep it hydrated instead of dry and flaky.

Let’s start with my new favorite moisturizer (recommended to me by a friend) I don’t know what makes this cream so good but for my dry skin it does absolute wonders. And as an added bonus it’s supposed to help with fine lines and wrinkles! I’m telling you I’ve struggled and struggled to find something that actually moisturized my skin. No matter what I used my skin still always felt dry. Oh…and because this is a heavier cream I like to use it as a night cream, but you can use it anytime of day you prefer;)

The next product is an oil, I like to use this every once in a while at night over my moisturizer if I’m feeling extra dry! There’s not much else to say about it. It’s pretty simple and to the point and I love it to pieces!

Josie Maran Argan Oil $14-$96 Sold at Sephora

The last face product is a mask from Lush! It’s the Oatfix mask. It’s just supposed to be a soothing and calming mask. Beware it smells so delish you will want to eat it! I recently wanted to treat myself to a face mask and ended up with this one. Turns out I LOVE IT. It just makes your skin feel so soft and calm, I swear it even helped shrink my pimples. It’s a great treat for the winter time. I love that is so inexpensive ,and you get a lot of uses out of it for the price.

{BODY)

I never get too excited about body products but here are some great new things I’ve found that I’m loving this winter.

The first is a hand cream. It’s hard to keep my hands moisturized in general just because I’m washing them all the time at work, but then add in winter and its just horrible! I randomly ended up with a hand cream from a hair show which turned out to be the holy grail of all hand creams (at least of what I’ve tried so far). But seriously, it rocks!!! And they make many other scents as well!

The second product I bought due to pure laziness haha. Its a spray lotion and I figured it would be nice to spray all over after a shower, you do still have to massage it in a little bit, but I feel like it speeds up the process and as a bonus it does makes my skin feel soft. There’s actually a few brands that have come out with products like these with lots of fun scents!

St. Ives Hydrating Sprays $8 sold in drugstores

And finally the last product, probably a completely unexpected item for the winter time, a tinted bronzing lotion from Victoria’s Secret. It’s a very light tint so you don’t look like you just did a faux tan. I like it because it just gives you a little bit of color and it makes your skin look so good! It has a hint of shimmer, to me its not very noticeable but I’m sure some people won’t like it!

Well there ya go! My top favorites for the winter time! Stay classy people, until next time.
